"DDI" - 3 factors to consider
Dead? Diseased? Imminent danger?
Dead trees are usually easy to spot. That doesn't necessarily mean they are easy to remove. Many dead trees can have hidden weaknesses that make them dangerous to deal with.
A diseased tree can be a little trickier. Some signs include:
- reduced foliage
- unusual colors on leaves
- root rot and fungus growth.
It's always a good idea to contact an Arborist if something seems off. And whether or not a tree poses an imminent danger can be a complicated topic.
Our Certified Arborist holds a TRAQ or Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. This process can be used to determine the risk a tree poses to people and property. Sometimes a TRAQ assessment is required when dealing with insurance companies.

How do you remove a dead tree?
A majority of dead tree removals are simple and straight forward. The tree is taken down in sections by skilled tree climbers and hauled away. In situations where the tree has structural deficiencies and is not safe to climb, a bucket truck is used to safely take the tree down.
How do I know if my tree is dangerous?
To be clear, no tree is ever perfectly "safe". Nature is going to do what nature is going to do. Having a Certified Arborist inspect your trees, identify possible risks and potentially perform a TRAQ assessment will help you make an informed decision and may help you limit your liability when it comes to the safety of your trees.
Having a dead tree in your yard is more than just an unsightly problem. It can become a home for insects such as termites and ants. These guys love dead or dying trees. In fact, once termites find your tree, they often head on over to your house.
Other problem with dead or dying trees:
1. The tree could be a carrier of a deadly disease like Oak Wilt. Plus, fungal infection from a dead tree is highly contagious to surrounding trees.
2. Always the possibility your dead tree could fall or topple over onto someone or some valuable property.

Clearing a View
